Madagascar Natural Vanilla and Precious Stones — Premium Supply for Global Luxury Markets

Madagascar produces approximately 80% of the world's natural vanilla and is the source of the Bourbon vanilla that commands $300-600 per kilogram at the US, European, and Japanese premium ingredient markets. Madagascar also produces sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and semi-precious stones that feed the global gemstone jewellery market centred in Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Jaipur. Yet both sectors share the same structural problem: Malagasy producers receive 12-18% of the final retail value of their products because informal export chains, intermediary concentration, and absence of provenance verification prevent them from accessing the premium pricing that quality and geographic origin would justify. This import/export opportunity structures direct supply agreements between verified Malagasy vanilla cooperatives or gemstone exporters (OEFC vanilla export authorisation, minimum 5 MT bourbon vanilla seasonal supply OR Bureau des Mines gemstone export licence) and US gourmet food manufacturers, Japanese natural ingredient buyers, European luxury cosmetic brands, and international gemstone traders in Bangkok, Hong Kong, or Jaipur.
