Ethiopia is the origin of arabica coffee and one of the few producing countries with a genuine domestic coffee culture. It is also a country that exports almost all of its coffee green, at a green bean price, into markets where roasted product sells for five to ten times that figure. This partnership establishes specialty coffee roasting and direct export from an Ethiopian Investment Commission industrial park — roasting to specialty standard, packaging for retail and foodservice formats, and direct export relationships that bypass the green bean trade entirely. The value case is arithmetic rather than speculative: roasted coffee sells at five to ten times the green bean price, and the gap between those two numbers is the entire opportunity. The hard parts are freshness logistics and brand. Roasted coffee has a shelf life green bean does not, which makes route-to-market timing a design constraint rather than an afterthought; and selling roasted Ethiopian coffee into specialty markets requires a brand, because buyers at that price point are not purchasing a commodity. EIC industrial park allocation is available. Indicative capital requirement is $2M-$4M, structured according to roasting capacity and the market footprint the partner intends.
