Requirement
Kenyan horticulture is a $700 million annual export industry built almost entirely on fresh product moving through an airfreight window measured in hours. That model works, and it also means that anything which cannot make the window — second-grade fruit, seasonal gluts, produce rejected on cosmetic specification — is either sold domestically at a fraction of export value or lost entirely. This partnership establishes cold-chain fruit and vegetable processing for export, capturing exactly that volume: IQF freezing, purée and concentrate production, and dried and dehydrated lines for product that has full nutritional and commercial value but cannot travel fresh. The processing route also opens sea freight, which removes the airfreight cost structure and the carbon exposure that European buyers increasingly price into sourcing decisions. KenInvest Export Processing Zone status is available, carrying the duty and tax treatment that makes export-oriented processing viable against established competitors. $4M-$7M is sought from partners bringing processing technology, cold chain capability or committed European and Middle Eastern offtake.
