Requirement
A Series A agritech connecting smallholder farmers to markets across East Africa is hiring a business development lead. At this stage the growth constraint is not product — it is the two channels that actually reach smallholders at scale: agricultural extension networks and government programmes. The BD lead builds both. On the extension side that means partnering with agro-dealer networks, farmer cooperatives and extension officers who already hold trust in the villages the platform needs to enter, and converting that trust into registration and active usage rather than one-time sign-ups. On the government side it means working with ministries of agriculture and their digital agriculture and subsidy programmes — the channel that can move a platform from tens of thousands of farmers to hundreds of thousands, and the one that takes longest to open. This is a field-weighted role, not a desk one. The successful candidate will spend meaningful time in rural markets and county or district offices, and should be comfortable operating where connectivity and formality are both limited. Compensation is $4,000-$8,000 monthly plus early-stage equity participation. The hire is urgent against Series A growth milestones.
