Requirement
A Chinese-African joint venture construction company is delivering road and port infrastructure contracts across East and West Africa and needs a senior project manager who can operate credibly inside multilateral procurement. That is the distinguishing requirement. AfDB and World Bank procurement processes govern how these contracts are bid, varied, certified and paid, and a project manager who does not know them will lose money on variation claims and payment certification regardless of how well the site is run. The role covers full delivery accountability: programme and critical path management, subcontractor and supplier control, quality and HSE compliance to lender standards, claims and variation management, and the reporting cadence that lender supervision missions expect. PMP certification is required. Equally important is the ability to work across a genuinely bicultural management structure — the JV's engineering leadership and its African delivery teams operate with different assumptions about escalation, documentation and decision rights, and the project manager sits at that seam. The role is site-based with rotation across projects in both regions. Compensation is $8,000-$18,000 monthly depending on contract value and complexity.
