Nigerian Building Materials Manufacturing – Joint Venture Opportunity

Requirement

A Nigerian industrial group seeks a joint venture partner with technical expertise to establish a building materials manufacturing facility. The project targets production of premium ceiling boards, drywall, and interior finishing materials currently imported into Nigeria at $200+ million annually. The proposed facility requires $12.5 million total investment for land, buildings, equipment, and working capital. The Nigerian partner contributes land (5-hectare site in Ogun State with utilities), local market knowledge, distribution network, and regulatory relationships. The international partner contributes technology, equipment specifications, and operational expertise. We seek building materials manufacturers, industrial equipment suppliers, or investors with construction materials experience. Preferred JV structure is 60/40 or 51/49 with the international partner holding minority position with strong operational rights. Alternative structures including management contracts are negotiable. Nigeria's construction sector exceeds $30 billion annually with acute shortage of quality locally-manufactured finishing materials. Import substitution is government policy priority with tariff protection and local content requirements supporting domestic production. The facility targets 40% cost advantage versus imports. Projected capacity of 15 million sqm annually serves approximately 8% of Nigerian market demand. Target returns of 25-30% IRR with payback period of 4-5 years based on conservative market penetration assumptions. The Nigerian partner has successfully operated JVs with European companies in related sectors.
