Cross-Border Payment Integration Specialist — Pan-African

Requirement

A fast-growing African e-commerce platform is operating across five markets with payment integrations that were built market by market and now do not hold together. Checkout conversion differs sharply by country, settlement reconciliation is manual, and FX exposure between collection and repatriation is not being managed deliberately. The payments specialist is hired to fix that. The immediate work is integration: M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Flutterwave and Paystack across all five markets, built to a common internal abstraction rather than five bespoke implementations. The harder work is what sits underneath — settlement mechanics, reconciliation against provider reports that frequently disagree with each other, failed and reversed transaction handling, and the FX question of when and at what rate collected local currency converts and moves. This requires someone who has done API integration against these specific providers and understands that mobile money settlement does not behave like card settlement. The requirement is urgent: the platform is entering new markets on a committed timeline and the current integration layer will not carry them. Compensation is $5,000-$10,000 monthly depending on depth of experience.
